Great Ormond Street follow up

Yesterday we had our 1 month follow up with the amazing cardiology team from Great Ormond Street. Thankfully they come up to Addenbrookes a couple times a month so we didn't have to go back down to London to see them.
First Jansen was weighed and now weighs 3.5 kg (7lb 11oz). That puts him on about the 0.5 percentile for his age, but the good news is that he is steadily gaining weight so the doctors were very pleased with that and there was no more mention of high calorie formula supplements. He is still feeding every 1.5 to 2 hours around the clock (though every now and then he stretches it to 3 hours at night) so hopefully he'll be making up the lost ground.
They checked out his chest incision and chest drain sites which are now pretty much completely healed and were very happy with how they looked.
Then the doctors and the extremely skilled echocardiogram technician (the same one that scanned Jansen's heart 3 times while he was in utero) looked at Jansen's heart for a good long time. Even after seeing the echo done this many times I still can't make out much detail from it, other than being able to pick out the heart chambers but this team obviously does this a lot and saw what they needed to see. They told us that Jansen's heart is functioning very well and there are no areas that they are concerned about.  Sometimes after this surgery there is some stress on and narrowing of the branches of the pulmonary arteries but they said that Jansen's look fine. The flow through the coronary arteries is also fine, so even though he had such a difficult surgery, they expect that he won't need anything further. If there are any problems down the line, they will be easily spotted in his routine follow up visits that he'll have yearly for the rest of his life and can be dealt with before they would cause him any ill health.
They took Jansen off of all of his medications (he was on diuretics and aspirin still) and said they'll see him in another 2 months and if he's fine then they'll see him in another 6 months after that.
And I somehow managed to suppress my urge to hug all of the GOSH team members (though I will admit to a few tears).
I feel like this is kind of the end of this story (the beginning of the story of a normal childhood for Jansen) so I wanted to take a chance to say a huge THANK YOU to all far and wide who were praying for our family during this ordeal. We felt very lifted up in prayer at a time when it was often difficult to pray ourselves. And we can testify that God did amazing things in answering all those prayers. We have a healthy little 6 week old boy to prove it.:) Hallelujah, praise God!
