Friends!

Our friends Victor and Jenica from SF came out to visit this past weekend! They were coming from Paris, so Ryan and I took off Friday afternoon and met them in London where their train dropped off. We spent the afternoon seeing some of the London sights--Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey. They had tickets to see Wicked in London so we found a pub near their theatre and had some pub food for dinner before the show. Ryan and I loved Wicked when we saw it, so we tried in Leicester Square to score some cheap tickets, but the show was pretty well sold out except for the expensive seats. Instead we entertained ourselves by going to see Angels and Demons at the Odeon Theatre, the big one in London where they do the London movie premiers. We finally got home between 1 and 2 am, quite past this pregnant lady's recent bed times. :-)

Saturday we slept in and then walked around Cambridge for most of the afternoon. It was gorgeous weather for here, so we went punting on the river. Victor and Ryan did the hard work, so Jenica and I just enjoyed a nice boat ride on the river Cam. We shopped a bit downtown and then we were able to get into an Evensong service at Kings College Chapel. It was actually the first time that Ryan and I have gone in the chapel so it was neat to finally see it. The choir there is amazing!
Sunday we rode bikes to our church in the morning and then we went out to Ely in the afternoon. We took a quick look around the cathedral there and then had tea at the Peacock tea house. It was really warm sunny weather again on Sunday. Then it was time to drive Victor and Jenica back down to the end of the underground so they could catch their train back to Paris.

It was so fun to have them here. The weekend flew by way too quickly. We have Monday off (Bank Holiday, not Memorial Day here) so today we are relaxing and trying to knock some things off of our ever-growing to do list before the baby comes. Again we have warm sunny weather. Three days in a row may be some sort of record here. We have some friends from California visiting over Thursday night and when they leave we will start the transformation of the guest room into the baby room. At the end of this week I'm 37 weeks and full term!

T minus 5 weeks...

That's right, 35 weeks pregnant.

35 week bump

The last couple weeks have been pretty uneventful on account of both of us getting sick and taking forever to get over it. Ryan got sick right after he got back from his work trip to Cyprus.
Even though he was feeling sick, we followed through on plans a couple Saturdays ago to go down to London to see Phantom of the Opera. Neither of us had seen that musical and we figure it will be a while until we can sneak down to London to see a show after the baby gets here.
So we had a long weekend that weekend (Monday was a bank holiday) but spent the rest of the weekend laying on couches blowing our noses. Ryan was home sick from work one day the next week and I was home sick two days and since then we've been slowly recovering.
We have our friends Victor and Jenica from San Francisco visiting this coming weekend so we're really excited about that. They are visiting Victor's dad in Paris, but making a trip our way for a visit. And we have another 3 day weekend next weekend. I'm sure we'll have more pictures to post then!
