January

January was a busy month for our family. After all the passport and visa issues were cleared and we were all back in the UK, I started work full time for the first time since Arie was born. We also had my cousin Stacey living with us for the month of January while she did an interim project with me in the lab. It was fun to have Stacey around and it led to all sorts of sightseeing. We went around Cambridge quite a bit and also made trips to London and to the nearby town of Ely on the weekends. All that activity made January pass quickly. It's hard to believe we're in February already!
We've also been kept busy dealing with Arie's ear infection. He got a double ear infection while we were in the states and was put on amoxicillin. We finished the antibiotics and two days later his symptoms came back. I took him to the dr. here and he still had an ear infection. So they put him on a different antibiotic. He again got better but two days after the antibiotics he spiked a high fever and was again unwell. You guessed it--he still had an ear infection. So right now we are finishing a longer round of amoxicillin. We'll see what happens now but we've unfortunately had to take care of a sick baby many times this past month. Thankfully he's been quite cheery about the whole thing most of the time.
Ryan's work is going well. He's been able to spend his time designing which he is enjoying. It has also kept him from having to travel during this busy season of his division so that has been nice. My work is going reasonably well. It's interesting to try to juggle full time work with taking care of Arie but we've got a workable system going. I love working early in the morning so it works well for me to get to work at 6:30. Ryan brings Arie to nursery at 8 and then I pick him up at 3. Arie is settling in pretty well at nursery too.
And that's life right now. We're enjoying a bit of normalcy after a crazy Christmas period and a busy January. Here are some recent pics:
