The Beach

That's right--we had one day of glorious sunshine a couple weekends ago. It started out gray and drizzly but we went anyway and were glad we did. It cleared up just as we got to the coast. We ended up driving north with a couple friends (near the town of Hunstanton for those who are curious) and going to the beach. The first beach we went to we had read about the "boardwalk" but when we got there it was this strange permanent pseudo-carnival all along the beach swarming with carnies. It was interesting, but not exactly picturesque. Further down the beach than most people cared to walk though, it was really nice. The change in the water level between high and low tides was really incredible. We were there at low tide, standing on wet sand from the high tide, and could barely see the edge of the water.
Then we went to another nearby beach and it was very much more what you think of as a beach. There was soft sand and people playing in the water and laying out. Kite surfing seems like a popular sport here right now, at least at the beach where we were. We expected the water to be freezing cold but were pleasantly surprised at how warm it was. It felt so nice to get our toes in sand again!
