Nice day for a cycle ride...in the rain

Not too much blog-worthy has been going on lately which could be thought of as a blessing since it probably means we are settling in here a bit. Ryan feels like he is learning the ropes at work and getting used to his job. We both worked hard this week so it seems nice to have a weekend to relax. Today it has been drizzly all day, but we decided to go for a bike ride anyway. Our destination was the Cambridge American Cemetery. It is a cemetery from WWII for the American military that were stationed here and died in combat.

Daffodils!

It is getting very spring-like here. All of the trees are blossoming and it seems like there are daffodils on every patch of clear ground. We even saw a magnolia tree today starting to bloom. On the way to the cemetery we came across a farm called "mill farm" with a big windmill.

We got to the cemetery and looked in the visitor's center. They had gathered a bunch of the stories about the people buried in the cemetery and the stories of how they fell. The cemetery itself was really beautiful! They had a chapel too with a mosaic on one wall and the entire ceiling.

The cemetery is on the outskirts of Cambridge (technically out of the city I think) so it is surrounded by open fields and farmland. The huge expanses of green are still something that we are not used to.

We booked a bed and breakfast in Salisbury for Thursday night, so we are taking Thursday off (yes, a four day weekend wasn't quite long enough :-)) and going to Salisbury Thursday and Friday. It is a city described in a book that Kelly just finished reading (Sarum) and more importantly it is close to Stonehenge. The old Roman city of Bath is nearby too. So we'll spend a couple of days exploring that part of the country.
